Home of Britain’s shortest branch line
Stourbridge has Britain’s shortest branch line: just 0.8 miles between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town, opened in 1879 to link the canal basin to the main line. Today it’s run by two Parry People Mover railcars that use flywheel energy storage. The town around it is a mix of older terraces, larger period houses and newer estates.
